Handmade silkscreened book
Creating Aliens is a handmade silkscreened book with a political overtone and asks the question, “Why, in the English language, are foreigners also called aliens?” In other languages this shared definition does not exist between the two words; one is a little-green-guy and the other is from another country (you can guess who is who). I went out with a camera and shot photographs of foreigners in Baltimore, MD.
The resulting book is interactive and frustrating. It is meant to make the reader feel mixed up. The pages are cut at varied heights so the book spreads turn into a version of exquisite corps, each turn of the page brings you closer and farther from the full image of the extraterrestrial.
